Hi to everyone, On behalf of CBC Golden Oldies Cricket club tour committee i am pleased to advise that Our club has registered to attend the Adelaide Festival in 2012. CBC has participated in many cricket festivals around the world since 1996.
We are aware that it is a long way off but we would like to ask for expressions of interest in coming to Adelaide as a player ,supporter or just as tourist in our group.
We always have a great time on tour and watching some old guys playing cricket is just one of the options besides seeing some of South Australia. We are looking for batters, bowlers, wicketkeepers fielders and umpires (just to mention a few positions)
Please ask your friends etc and advise me as soon as possible so that we may start our campaign.
The Golden Oldies website is www.goldenoldiescricket.com and click on to Adelaide festival.
Your tour committee is Paul Brett, Tony Adnum, Steve Allan and John Payne

- MATCH REPORT VERSUS REVESBY WORKERS CLUB 22nd JANUARY 2012
At one stage it looked like three washouts in a row and no cricket for the season so far. However, although this day started with very overcast skies and rain threatening, the game proceeded. We welcomed new players, David Lewis and Ray Knight. The toss was won by CBC and we elected to bat in a 40 over match played in two innings of 20 overs. Before the match started, a minutes silence was held in memory of club stalwart Dick Balcomb who passed away on 11th January. CBC players also wore black armbands during the game. Tony Paterson and Terry Doust opened the batting for CBC. Terry was bowled on the last ball of the first over without troubling the scorers. Although the rain came and there were a couple of heavy showers, play was not interrupted. Steve Allan joined Tony and took the score to 19 when Steve was caught for 12. Rob Drummond and Tony then set about the bowling and took the score to 74 in the 18th over when Tony was caught for 22. Rob had hit 2 sixers and a four. Mighty efforts considering the long boundaries and the slowness of the outfield. Rob was on 34 and Stephen Long on 2 when our first 20 overs were completed. The score was 3 for 76. The rain stopped before the end of our 1st innings and by the time it came for us to bowl, the ground was fairly dry. Rob Drummond and John Granata opened the bolwing for CBC. Rob bowled Floyed for 2 in his first over. Rob and John were replaced by Stephen Long and Steve Allan. Steve Allan had Kelly brilliantly caught by Stephen Long at mid on. Stephen had to run about 20 metres and dive to take the catch. Unfortunately Stephen’s effort was not catching and a couple of easy catches were put down off Steve Allan who could have had 3 for 4 from his two overs. David Lewis and Terry Doust were next to bowl followed by Tony Paterson and Tony Adnum. Tony Paterson bowled Lindsay Le Bas for 21 and was a constant worry to the batsmen. Revesby were 4 for 79 after their 20 overs. We were in the hunt being only 2 runs behind and 1 wicket better off. Our second effort at the crease was not as good as the first. We struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Rob Drummond scored the single he required and retired. Stephen Long, David Lewis and Paul Delves all went quickly. Charles Wulff was caught at first slip. A brilliant catch of a very high standard. Tony Adnum made 4 and John Granata was run out trying to increase the rate. Ray Knight joined Eugen Alexandrow and survived the free hit ball only. This brought Rob Drummond back to the crease and he and Eugen took the score to 121 after our 40 overs. It was just a matter of time when Revesby started their second innings. Our bowlers toiled hard but could not stem the flow of runs. Revesby passed our score in the 32nd over and finished with 5 for 133 after 35 overs. Last modified: 06/02/2012 20:28
