Royal Exchange 58 Pitt Street | 1858
 2006
 | 1858 This is a photograph of the Royal Exchange from the book, "Sydney - The 1850s, The Lost Collections" by Barry Groom and Warren Wickman. Comment by Frank Maundrell: "I do not know whether this is the same building in which Royal Exchange Branch was later housed. I also do not know when Royal Ex. was opened, but it was later than the 1850s. Nevertheless, the photo is of interest because the architect, John Hilley, also designed the Head Office building." Inscription below the photo in the book reads: "View of Bridge Street and the Royal Exchange building. Built in 1853-56, this building was demolished in 1965. Its architect, John Hilley also designed the C.B.C. Bank building, erected in the same decade. Neo-classical architecture was much in vogue in Sydney at the time. W. Hetzer 1858 MM." 1934 Listed in Century of Banking; 1977 listed in Annual Report
2006 photo of refurbished site with Kinko's on the ground floor, by John Ness
John Beer believes the site was refurbished by CBC about 1968 & that during 1969 merger talks between CBC & NBA, when NBA 60 Pitt St was being redeveloped, NBA adjusted 60 Pitt St floors to align with the existing floors at 58 Pitt Street’s CBC’s rebuilt building. 2006 photo showing how CBC (No. 58) and NBA (No. 60) adjoined, by John Beer.
